Abstract:

This article is an outcome of the research project «Ethnic-Racial Difference in Cartagena Coast Border». This project addressed the ethnic-racial and spatial dimension of social unbalances in the city of Cartagena and how this leads inherently to social frictions that are resolved in law courts. Our main aim was to inquire into cyclical eviction and marginal bringing together Afro-Cartagenero people in a racializing path of urban outskirts. Through archival work, testimonials, genograms, and workshops, we found ousting and marginalized regathering patterns in several northern, southern, and insular Cartagena areas.

Keywords: ethnic and racial difference, peri-urban space, inequality, Cartagena, gentrification, Black people.
