Firstly, it presents a historical overview of women’s democratic participation in Colombia, specifically in Boyacá. Here, the laws and provisions created to guarantee women’s political rights are considered. Secondly, the study identifies some variables affecting women’s participation and representation in the Governorship and Assembly of Boyacá, leading to conclusions and recommendations.
