Abstract:
In this text, the author discusses the dialogue between individual ecstatic experience andcollective ludic experience in electronic music consumption among middle and upper classyouth in Bogotá, Colombia. Drawing on Victor Turner’s concept of communitasand ondiscussions about the meaning of ecstatic trance in secular sectors, the author proposespaths for the analysis of the dynamics of youth identity construction in the context of thesolipsism-collectivism tension.
