Abstract:
Over the last decades, an interesting approach for the study of the African Diaspora has beendeveloped in Colombia that differs from others in the theoretical relevance given not only toGregory Bateson, but also to ecology and cultural materialism. This article is as much adescription of the central characteristics of this approach as a critique of some aspects of (1)its conceptual and explanatory model, (2) its methodological frame, and (3) its narrativestrategies.
Keywords: Afro-american approaches, theory, methodology, afro-descendents, Colombia.
