Abstract:

This article aims to defend the thesis that today we can observe a transition towards the acceptance of multispecies families, and the affective bonding it entails, as a «foundation of society». To accomplish this, first, we will present two legal-political cases related to multispecies families in Colombia, which will lead us to examine the topic of family as a speciesist device undergoing change. Secondly, based on the changes experienced by families throughout the latest decades, we will present three models of multispecies family to conclude by outlining some legal-political consequences.

Keywords: Multispecies family, speciesism, shepherding power, pet, companion animal, animal law.
