Abstract:
This article endeavors to reach an understanding of the concept «habitat», based on theinterpretation of phenomena such as urbanization and mutation in city and rural settings.The article initializes from the experiences of Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas with a group ofstudents at Harvard University, analyzing permutations in urban development, alongsidewith border opening, technological revolution, new lifestyle tendencies, the use of time,space and inside consumer behavior. The work concludes that, to understand the complex-ity of habitat, it is important to view its relationship to ecosystems and fragmentation ofspace and social segregation, which forces increased mutations related to information capac-ity, management, transport and control.
